Frames

Frames is a dedicated app for analog photographers who want to keep track of their creative process from start to finish. Designed for film users, it lets you document every shot you take on your rolls by capturing technical settings, gear details, and personal notes. Instead of relying on memory or loose paper logs, you can use Frames to create a complete record of your work, organized and searchable across all your devices.

Each film roll becomes a structured timeline where you can enter information for each frame. You can include shutter speed, aperture, focal length, timestamp, place, and any other relevant data. You select your camera, lens, and film type from your personal library. As you use the app, it becomes faster and more responsive to your workflow thanks to its ability to recall and suggest your commonly used gear combinations. Film stocks are built in, with over two hundred options ready to use, from classic emulsions to modern favorites.

Frames also supports visual references. You can capture a phone image of the scene to later compare with your developed film scans. When your lab returns your photos, you can link the digital versions to each note and automatically apply the saved data as metadata. This means you can view your shot information inside image editors, gallery apps, and archiving tools, preserving context alongside your images.

Available for iPhone, iPad, and macOS, Frames is built to feel natural on every Apple device. Sync happens through iCloud, keeping your logs current wherever you go. The design is minimalist and calm, ideal for use on location or while editing at your desk. The app does not collect your data or push ads. Everything you enter stays private and under your control.
